Day Dating!
Who would of ever thought life could become so congested and you lose track of time?!!
No!! Just me?!
My name is Devin, most call me dev and some know me as Chef Dev because, i'm a classically trained chef who owns businesses in the world of culinary arts. Thats not all that I am though. I am the wife of a solider in the Army and mom of 2 amazing children. Tyler who's 9 and Trinity 4.
I know many of you can relate to the lack of time that we put into dates with our significant others, not because we want to but, because time just seems to slip away.
I wanted to create this blog to show that what you anything can be achieved. Up here I will give tips and tricks for my nightly meal routines, grocery shopping experiences, places that we've tried for dates and so much more. I want to create a space for us to interact and chat with one another about the lives of mom, wives and careers. You name it, lets talk about it.
Over the years my husband and I have become so busy with work and the kids that we forgot about us as a couple.
Now that we have relocated to Huntsville, weve made it a priority to
"date" more than we have in the past. And that my friends is where we came up with day dating. This is our way of going out or in, while the kids are in school. it helps us avoid locating sitters and being able to really connect.
How many of you can relate to not having a sitter lined up all the time at night or even just letting everyday life like; homework and chores get in the way of your typical date nights.
Well, Im here for you trust me I understand!
My husband and I have decided to take time for each other on fridays during the day. Why Friday you ask?! There is no secret formula to it at all. It was basically the day that we had less going on and the day that we could prepare ourselves for the weekend ahead.
Each Friday we drop the kids off at school and let the chores go for the day, well at least until the kids get home, and leave all work to the side.
We choose an activity like:
an early movie
breakfast at our favorite place
Early lunch
Or even just walking around our favorite grocery store, Whole Foods, uninterrupted.
Sometimes when we go to a place, order a couple items and share. We want to experience new things together, and sometimes what I will order he wont usually go for and visa versa. We strive to do something that is inexpensive and we can actually feel relaxed.

We take time for each other. We ask the hard questions. We typically go with questions about the week, our careers and what we want to do better. It has really helped us streamline our relationship, focus on each other and not so much the kids at that moment.
Today we decided to try a place right down the street called Yoshi Sushi Fusion
We had a really good time. The atmosphere was small and quiet, which allowed us to talk to and enjoy each others company. The daytime staff was very nice and was very attentive but, also allowed us time and space to sit and be comfortable.
I myself ordered the chicken ramen and my husband had the Roll Tide Roll, Hey Its Alabama, why wouldn't they have a Roll Tide Roll.
The food was amazing. And if you have a picky eater like my husband, this can be a great option for you. If you're in the Huntsville area or even where ever you are located, a sushi place is a great option for a quick inexpensive day date.

So, give me some tips and ideas for some good day dates and if you haven't tried this method, you should start. I will make sure to respond to your comments and try some of the places that you've suggested on our next day date.
Trust me dating, even in marriage, helps build your relationship so much more. It also has helped me with my everyday agenda as well. A small amount of time now with each other will help you in the future..
Whether you're married, seriously dating or single, taking a moment from work and kids is a must. It like a battery recharge, and who can actually say they don't need a recharge?!
You have to be the best you that you can be for your family.

One thing that we remind each other is that, when the kids are grown and off on their own, we need to still have a relationship.

I like the idea of day dating a lot! After 30 years of dating (married for 26 of them) we are quickly approaching our 50th birthdays. He’s older! . Anyway, we have a list of 50 things we will be doing before turning 50 and one item on the list is 50 new dates! You can follow on Instagram if you want. Also, we love Yoshi too! Great food & perfect low key atmosphere close to home!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your in site. I really like the idea of creating a list of things to accomplish before a certain date or time. I will try this method and keep you posted on our progress.
